If you haven’t heard: A free email newsletter about making pottery will be launched soon! I’m shooting for the middle of January for the first official edition.
Read more to find out how you can join the list, help contribute, or get yourself mentioned!
What’s It All About?
To start with, it’s really just an experiment. I want to see how the whole newsletter thing works. I also like to learn about pottery and share information. And I like to write. But I also have this vision that there will be a lot of subscriber participation. That’s right, I want to feature the people that are actually making the pottery!
Every month I hope to send a newsletter right to your inbox which might include some content from this site, a look at another potter’s work space, some pottery making tips, an interesting video and more.
Your Clay Space Can Be Featured!
I think it is really interesting to see where others work with clay. And see how they set up their work spaces. I would love to see and share some photos of other clay studios and ceramic spaces. YOUR work space! But what would you get out of it? You can include some links to your website/social/shop and/or email address. That way you can connect with others that may be interested in your process or work.
If you are interested, email me the following:
- (Required) One or two, at most three, images of your clay workspace. Images should be at least 800px in one direction.
- (Required) Name of the person who took the photo/owns the rights (to give a proper image credit).
- (Required) One or two paragraphs describing your process.
- (Optional) Up to three links to your website/blog/shop/social accounts.
- (Optional) Your email address to share with others.
Just to be clear: By sending any of this information, you are agreeing to let it be published in an email newsletter/webpage version, on the Pottery Making Info site, or in other endeavors related to Pottery Making Info. You will also allow the photos to be altered to improve appearance, dimensions, or file space (including, but not limited to, cropping, resizing, sharpening, improving contrast, etc.)
Share Some Pottery Making Tips
Do you have some great ideas to improve our pottery? Same deal as before. Share a good tip (send it to my email) and get up to three links along with it.
- (Required) One or two images to illustrating your pottery tip. Images should be at least 800px in one direction. Or a link to your tip on a blog, website, or youtube video, etc.
- (Required) Name of the person who took the photo/owns the rights (to give a proper image credit), or created the web page or video.
- (Required) A paragraph or list of steps describing the tip (unless it is already part of the web page, video, etc.)
- (Optional) Up to three links to your website/blog/shop/social accounts.
- (Optional) Your email address to share with others.

Giveaways, Contests, Sponsorships
We’re probably getting ahead of ourselves but if this email list actually works I hope to incorporate some giveaways and contests in the future. If you have a product or service of which potters and ceramic artists should be aware of, I’m open to ideas for making that happen as well.
Questions, Suggestions?
I would love to hear any suggestions you might have. Or if you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them. I’m not entirely sure how this will work but I think it will be worth trying. Thanks for your support!
Oooof, great idea newsletter (sign me up: garyrith@yahoo.com ) and I will be getting some of my studio pics etc. together for consideration as a feature!
Hey Gary,
I added you to the email list. I also got the images of your studio. Thanks for participating!
